Having a meek and quiet spirit hasn't always been my strong suit when it comes to being a mother. It's interesting how I can exhibit these qualities in other areas of my life, but as a mother, I think that's the true test of character for me!
I want to continue to pray and seek out these virtues so they will manifest in my own life because I want my own daughters to inherit them as well.
What does it mean to have a meek and quiet spirit?
It doesn't mean, necessarily, to let people walk all over you--especially your children! But, it does mean to handle every situation gracefully. Being quiet doesn't mean being silent; it means being calm.
And don't our children need us to be calm when we are instructing and disciplining them?! I think it's easy to forget that our children are people and still need to be honored as people. They are gifts and should be treated as such.
How do we learn to practice a meek and quiet spirit? Think before you speak. Recognize that the little issues are just little issues and our children are still in training. We need to see them as people, not projects.
How about at as a wife? For some this is more difficult to exhibit then as mom! Your husband is also a person who should be honored and respected, even when you don't agree with every decision he makes.
