Loving people is not merely an afterthought for Christians. It is the forethought. It is the lens through which we serve, pray, and address people.
As a a wife and mother, how do I serve my husband and children? Around my interests or theirs? Not merely hobbies, but needs and nurture.
Let me be clear about one thing: the spiritual nature does not come naturally. Human nature, our sinful selves, is what we default to. This requires we are intentional and we pray for strength for the ability to deny ourselves in order to love tangibly in this way.
That doesn't mean we need to throw all our interests out the window, but that we need to consider others' interests before our own.
Today, consider how you can love your husband and children by putting their interests first.
