World of Animals ~ A Homeschool Resource {Giveaway}

*Giveaway Closed*

Master Books has sent me a wonderful resource for our homeschool library that I want to share with you.

From the Master Books site:

The World of Animals investigates and describes the anatomy, behavior, and habitats of over 1,000 animals. From microscopic worms and insects to reptiles, birds, and mammals, this book will provide children with an insight into the incredible range of life in God’s wonderful world. This comprehensive but easy-to-use book boasts a wide range of features to help bring its readers face-to-face with the science and beauty of the living world.

Before Master Books re-released "The World of Animals", my daughter (9) received a previous edition for Christmas last year. There has been no end to the use of this wonderful resource.

And the new edition? Brighter pictures, and facts on endangered species and environments that are up-to-date.

When we come across an animal outside or on TV that we see, my daughter almost always goes to this book to look up that animal and learn more facts on it.

She is also an avid story writer and loves to write stories with animals in them as main characters. She will often use The World of Animals to learn specific behaviors or characteristics of the animal characters she has chosen in order to make her story more factual and interesting.

My younger children also enjoy the colorful photographs in this book and I will often read some of the fact boxes to them.

In addition, this book goes really well with any animal stories you may read, such as The Burgess Animal Book for Children.

It's also an excellent tool for introducing young children (2 years and up) to animals. The colorful and captivating pictures will help a child learn to identify the animals easily. Simply point and name!
