On Family Devotions

*Random.org chose #3 commenter - Theresa!! Congrats!!*

Somehow we have always struggled with keeping family devotions a priority and keeping it consistent.

Satan does whatever he can to distract, discourage, and derail us whenever he can. It's easy to give up when kids are "bored" or "complaining" about reading the Bible. I've been there. Somehow I reasoned with myself that Bible reading should be fun and "hands on". I need to add something to it in order for it mean anything. But the truth is, that is not true.

God's Word is powerful enough to stand alone. Praying for God to open our eyes and ears for what He has for us and our children is a good foundation. But it simply does not need all the extras.

The extras aren't bad, just not required.

By making this very important thing a non-negotiable priority, it will show my children where God ranks in our family in deed, not merely in word.

The month of November I am challenging myself to do this one thing, every.single.day. If nothing else gets done, I know, at least, that my children's spirits are fed. Let me tell you, it hasn't been easy. The most important thing has been consistency. It helps my kids know what to expect.

You can join me! I am teaming up with Tommy Nelson and other moms to challenge myself to do daily devotions every day. Are you up for the challenge?

Tommy Nelson has just released a devotional set called Jesus Calling - one for adults and one for children. It is a great way to come together and discuss what you and your child have read each day.
