Children learn and retain stories and ideas more than facts and mere information. That's one reason I love using a curriculum that utilizes living books rather than textbooks. It brings children into history through stories and by bringing the child along through the imagination rather then the use of dry text filled with information.
Living history engages the child and brings greater understanding and depth to what is learned through the eyes of those who lived that history.

And there is a yet another exciting way to bring to life history for our children: Family Audio Adventures!
3 Reasons We Love Family Audio Adventures
Fun and Engaging
The music and sound effects are amazing and keep us tuned in to what's going on. Who says learning history has to be dull and dry? Family Audio Adventures is far from that!
This way of learning is an excellent supplement and especially helpful for auditory learners, who learn best by hearing, listening, and/or talking. I have one such 10-year old who is more auditory then the rest and this series has opened up a whole new world for her. We look forward to more!
As an adventure, this series take a child into the story itself through the drama and music, as if you're listening to a movie and get to create the picture and characters with your own imagination. It's fascinating and it's a great alternative to screen time and my children truly enjoy it!
Allowing children to use and strengthen their imagination also helps them use and strengthen their critical thinking skills as well as develop problem solving skills. It's a win-win!
These adventures do a great job of drawing us in and keeping us captivated by the story. In fact, we had a little bit of an issue with who was going to listen first!
My Kids Love for Family Audio Adventures
"I like hearing the different actors from movies I love. I love that there is almost always some kind of action going on." ~Gabriella, 14
"I love it because it has some of my favorite actors in it...and it's adventurous and cool and AWESOME!" ~Jeremiah, 9
"It was good. All of it. I just like how all the people sounded." ~Elizabeth, 8
About Family Audio Adventures
The series is derived from G.A. Henty's written adventures which are told from the Christian worldview.
Each audio adventure takes you beyond the reading of an audio book into an engaging of the mind and imagination through sound effects, actors, and drama.
