Announcements Regarding Joyful Mothering

Many of you have heard the buzz about me taking a blogging sabbatical for the month of August. It's no big secret and I'd love to share with you why and what I hope to accomplish during this time. Hold Fast

This may sound strange, but blogging has kind of gotten in the way of writing. Blogging is so much more than just writing. But without the written part, blogging would cease to exist. Without the blogging community, it seems your writing ceases to exist.

My goal as a writer is to help others while filling my desire to write. I need to write. But I also need to experience life before I can write about it.

I created Joyful Mothering a year ago. I went public with it 10 months ago.  About 7 months ago, I moved it to it's own home with it's own domain. Up until now, I wasn't wholly clear on how God wanted to use me here. So I would post on random topics within the niche of my blog. I know my goal is to help, but as someone who needs help, it's sometimes hard to offer it. But God has shown me that, as I go through the trenches myself, those times are speaking to other women going through the same thing. They need to know someone else is going through what they are. They need to know of other women who don't have it all together. I don't. That's why I share the tough stuff. The raw honesty.

It is not only for others to relate. It is also a trace of where I've come from to where God will take me.

This week, God gave me clear direction on how to use Joyful Mothering and I am beyond excited. Actually, it begins in my own home before it can even hit Joyful Mothering. Unfortunately for you, I'm going to be keeping you in the dark about what that is until I come back in September. :P

My reasons for taking the sabbatical include:

  1. To focus on writing. I need some time to focus on just writing. As I stated, blogging is more than writing and I've been so busy in the community {aka social media} that I haven't focused enough on my writing. And also the technicalities of my blog. I need to set it aside for a short time.
  2. To focus on the discipleship of my children. God has laid it on my heart that we are to close the "school" books and dive head first into learning about Him. This is a huge endeavor because I am not always intentional about teaching my children how to connect with God. Bible knowledge is useless without the understanding of the power behind it--that is, God. This is where God is moving and I'll share more about that when I come back. ;)
  3. To focus on my eBook. I knew God wanted me to write an eBook but it wasn't until, literally, yesterday that I knew what He wanted me to write on. It just hit me and my pen was scribbling like a mad writer! I have no release date but I am in no hurry. I plan to work and write consistently on the eBook, but will not release it until the right time.

Beginning next week, I have some wonderful guest posters who will be sharing their hearts on the topics of Joyful Mothering. Please make them feel welcome here. Leave them a comment, say hello, visit their blogs. Encourage them! That's what the blogging community is about! That's what the body of Christ is about. You never know who may need to hear what you have to say. Don't hold back.

When I return, I will be sharing the vision [statement] for Joyful Mothering and sharing our experience with discipleship with you {complete with giveaways}. In addition, the Homemakers Challenge site will launch.

To stay up to date on all the happenings around here, please subscribe whether by email or RSS reader. You don't want to miss out on what is in store here. Promise.

Stick around with me? Please? :)
